Job Purpose:

The Facilitator & Religious Leader will play an essential role in leading and coordinating faith-based activities within the 5-Day Faith-Based Camp, providing spiritual guidance, organizing worship sessions, Bible discussions, and community outreach projects. This position is integral in fostering an environment of spiritual growth, fellowship, and community service. Facilitators will support the development and delivery of structured religious content and programs that align with the SayPro SCDR.4.11.1 framework.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Activity Coordination:
    • Lead and coordinate faith-based activities, including but not limited to worship sessions, Bible studies, prayer meetings, and fellowship activities, in alignment with the goals of the 5-Day Faith-Based Camp.
    • Facilitate group discussions and Bible studies, ensuring an inclusive, supportive, and interactive environment that encourages participants to grow spiritually.
    • Organize and direct community outreach initiatives, connecting participants with opportunities to engage in service projects, volunteer work, and other charitable activities.
    • Collaborate with other facilitators to ensure all camp activities run smoothly and effectively, fostering a cohesive experience for all participants.
  2. Religious Instruction:
    • Provide religious instruction and spiritual guidance based on the teachings of [Specify Religious Tradition or Denomination].
    • Develop and deliver meaningful, age-appropriate lessons that promote faith-building, moral development, and personal growth.
    • Use various teaching methods, such as storytelling, discussion groups, visual aids, and hands-on activities, to engage participants in learning and application of religious principles.
    • Maintain a balance of both structured instruction and free-flowing spiritual discussions to meet the needs of diverse participants.
  3. Camp Facilitation & Community Engagement:
    • Foster a warm, welcoming, and respectful atmosphere conducive to personal reflection and group interaction.
    • Provide spiritual leadership to campers, supporting their emotional and spiritual needs through counseling, one-on-one mentoring, and group activities.
    • Encourage and model Christian values such as compassion, kindness, respect, and forgiveness.
    • Assist in organizing social activities and community-building events that align with the camp’s faith-based objectives.
    • Act as a liaison between campers, parents, and camp administration, ensuring the smooth execution of all activities and addressing any concerns or needs promptly.
  4. Camp Logistics and Planning:
    • Assist in the logistical planning of the camp, including the preparation of materials for activities, coordinating transportation, and arranging schedules.
    • Participate in pre-camp planning sessions to help tailor the activities to the needs and interests of the camp participants.
    • Ensure all activities adhere to the camp’s guidelines, objectives, and safety regulations.
    • Provide feedback and evaluations on the effectiveness of activities and make recommendations for future camps.
  5. Faith-Based Counseling:
    • Provide faith-based counseling to participants experiencing spiritual or personal challenges, offering advice, prayer, and scriptural insights in line with the camp’s religious teachings.
    • Lead prayer sessions during critical moments, helping participants deepen their connection with their faith.
    • Serve as a role model for participants, demonstrating Christian values in all interactions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • A degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field is preferred.
    • Proven experience in facilitating religious programs, leading Bible studies, and/or serving as a religious leader or pastor.
    • Previous experience working with youth or community groups in a faith-based context is an advantage.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of religious texts and teachings, particularly in [Specify Religious Tradition/Denomination].
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present spiritual teachings effectively.
    • Leadership and organizational skills, with experience in coordinating group activities and managing logistics.

    • Ability to pass background checks and adhere to safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Christian Counseling or Spiritual Care is an asset.
  • Experience leading interfaith or multicultural programs is a plus.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and participate in camp activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or supplies (up to [specific weight, e.g., 20 lbs]) for camp activities.
